Subbing Now

We’ve got four more lakorns being English subbed, or will be English subbed, so it’s time for another edition of Subbing Now.

Rong Tao Naree

The story is about 4 women who are like different kinds of shoes.

Warisa represents high heels. She’s a chic and modern girl who loves to flirt with guys. She is picky because she wants a perfect love.

Namnao represents boots. She’s a confident surgeon who may seem ordinary but is actually hiding something.

Ussana represents sneakers. She’s a free spirited artist who wants to be a professional photographer.

Ticha represents sandals. She’s a simple but fearful shoes designer. She doesn’t like taking risks and wants to find a safe love.

Thippy is now subbing Rong Tao Naree (2019). I’m a bit surprised because she started subbing Tiwa Sorn Dao too only a couple of weeks ago. It stars Four Sakonrut, Focus Jeerakul, Gypso Areekanta and Kaew Jarinya. This started October 19, 2019 and airs Saturday and Sunday and should have around 20 episodes. With Voice (2019) rumored to start November 7, 2019, Thippy will have a full schedule so let’s all wish her the best! You can find it here. Tags: friends, romance, multiple couples

Sapai TKO (2019)

Rawich hired Rakfah to become his wife to prevent his mother from arranging a marriage with him to Pimdeuan. Little did Rawich knew, his mother was not going to stop interfering in his love life. So when Rakfah moved into the house, the war between mother in law and daughter in law began.

Sapai TKO (2019) started October 24, 2019. It stars
Dan Worrawech and Pattie Ungsumalynn. Thippy is subbing it here. It’s a remake of Sapai Tornado. This airs 2 days a week on GMM25. Here’s a song from the ost. Tags: pretend relationship, family, comedy

Kao Waan Hai Noo Pen Sai Lub (2019)

Suam, a girl who grew up in a slum, has to become a spy for the police to help Tuan, a deputy commander, who’s also disguised to spy into Mr. Ha.

Suam started to have a crush on Danurut, a good cop, as soon as she saw him because of his handsome looks. They met when Suam took a guy who she thought was going to rape her to the police station. Danurut’s uncle is part of Mr. Ha’s gang.

Danurut gets involved with her again when he misunderstands that she’s his uncle’s mistress, then he hires her as his fake wife to avoid Suchada, Mr. Ha’s daughter and his ex. Tuan thinks this is a good chance for her to spy on Danurut, to find out whether he’s involved with Mr. Ha or not. Suam accepts it.

Suam and Danurut fight all the time. She moves into his house because he needs her to do anything he orders, meanwhile she must spy into Danurut.

Kao Waan Hai Noo Pen Sai Lub (2019) just started November 8, 2019. I like what I see. It’s a remake of a 1991 lakorn, remade in 2000 and now once again. The fake marriage, spies, yes! I can go for that. But tags for the older versions has ‘rape’, so I’m wondering if they meant the attempted rape in the synopsis or not, or does the pra’ek rape the nang’ek? If so, I doubt this new version would have that. neko is going to be subbing it, and it’s actually the only one I really want to watch out of all of these 😅.

Sanya Kaen Saen Rak (2019)

Chaesitha is a wedding planner and Wongwen owes him money for her wedding because her groom runs off with her money.

This is one of those lakorns filmed and forgotten in a vault somewhere until they unearthed it years later. No seriously, this lakorn was made years ago, it was supposed to air in 2016, but for one reason or another, nothing happened. One notable thing about it, this was Nike Nitidon’s first comedy lakorn I believe and one of the few comedies of Vill Wannarot as well. Muse will be subbing this after they finish a few other projects first.

The top three this week will be a little different. Instead of focusing on a certain genre like remakes, or genres, today’s top three will focus on one actor: Andrew Gregson.

Born on September 1, 1978, Andrew Gregson is one of those natural actors who makes his acting seem effortless at times. Since he’s at Channel 3 too, I wondered if he and Ken Theeradeth competed for roles, as they’re of similar ages. Andrew is at his best at roles where he’s light hearted, flirty and at comedy. But he can also really tug at the heartstrings in his dramatic roles, as I found out from watching 12 Rasee (2003). He doesn’t have the high profile other actors have and seems to avoid the limelight for the most part, going years without any new lakorn being released. I’m glad he’s working regularly now, and I look forward to seeing him in Voice 2019.

Here’s a fan mv to Andrew Gregson. Credit: AndrewGregsonFC

1. Ruen Mai See Beige (2004) This stars a young Andrew Gregson (Arm) and Cherry Khemapsorn is his sweet wife Mook. This looks like a more realistic and less dramatic take on married life then you’ll find in most lakorns. You can watch it here.

Ruen Mai See Beige (2004) synopsis: Follows the love story of Arm and Mook starting from their university years until they are married and have a child. The lakorn is narrated by personal journals written by both Arm and Mook about the trial and tribulations of their relationship.

2. Tang Parn Kammathep (2001) – This lakorn is probably one of Andrew Gregson’s most well known roles to his international fans. It’s a slap and kiss that features a kidnapping, a remote island and lots of bickering! What’s not to love? I haven’t actually watched this, I’ve managed to watch some of his more obscure roles 😅, but not this, but if you’re interested, you can watch it here. Download it here with English subs.

Tang Parn Kammathep (2001) synopsis: Pope and Pat literally run into each other when they first meet. On the day Pope returns from overseas, he angers a taxi driver because he cannot remember where his step mother and half sister live. As they fight, Pope is pushed into the path of Pat’s car. Believing that she has hit him, and feeling guilty, Pat takes Pope to the hospital and helps him find his way home. Pope israther impressed by her trusting nature and insistence to help even a stranger. He already starts to like her. However, both part ways not asking each other’s name.

Pope’s step mom, half sister, and niece live on their own, a separate household from his father. Upon his return home, he learns from his half sister that his father is to wed another, much younger woman. Remembering how his step mom used to care for him in place of this father, Pope vows to stop the marriage. It turns out, however, that the much younger woman is Pat’s older sister, Pim. Pim has abruptly left her boyfriend, Arton, who happens to also be Pope’s friend, for Pope’s rich father. While consoling Arton, Pope learns of Pim. Feeling guilty for what her sister has done, Pat also visits Arton. Pope sees the couple together and assumes she is Pim.

And so, on the day of the wedding Pope puts his plan into motion. He sends a message for the bride to meet him in the parking lot. Pim makes Pat go in her place. Believing Pat to be Pim, he kidnaps her. Though Pat tries to tell him who she actually is, he refuses to believe her. He takes her to a remote island, and the two are forced to live together. Although Pope wants to hate her, he can’t completely, and resorts to making her do manual labor. The two move from arguing to actually caring for one another when the other is ill.

3. Muean Khon La Fark Fah (2017). A more recent lakorn of Andrew’s, this lakorn features Matt Peeranee as Yothaka. Perfect role for Matt, but Andrew as the conservative Chatcharun, I don’t know about that. I think Andrew does better in more quirky roles. Watch it streaming here.

Muean Khon La Fark Fah (2017) synopsis: When Yothaka’s mother marries Chatcharun’s rich father, Chatcharun is not happy. He believes that her and her mother are both gold diggers. Also, Yothaka has just returned from abroad and has a care-free “western” attitude. She is a rebel at heart, while Chatcharun is conservative. Along with believing she is a gold-digger, he also thinks she is “easy”. She encourages that misconception just to annoy him. He harasses, she teases. They bicker. A lot. ~ A remake of the 1995 drama.

What are your top 3?

Watching Now

Do you go through moods? Marathon lakorns or watch none? Or maybe just watch an episode or two and then drop it? What lakorns are you watching now?

It’s getting near the end of the year now, and I usually look at what I’ve watched and try to finish up dramas so I can start anew next year. I’m watching a number of different lakorns, as well as other dramas, sporadically. Like I’ll watch an episode here, then a different lakorn and so on. I’m finding a number of lakorns I do want to watch, or continue watching, but I have to slug through a part I hate, like I don’t really like the bickering couple who just bicker before they fall in love. Or what about a stupid misunderstanding? 🙄

In 2018, I watched 5 lakorns. So far in 2019, I’ve only finished 2, Pidsawat and Khing Kor Rar Khar Kor Rang (2019). So I’m definitely behind. These are the lakorns I want to finish, or at least 3 of them: The Sand Princess, Ra Rerng Fai, Plerng Prang Tian, My Love From Another Star, Jao Sao Chang Yon.

When I think about why I’m stuck with some lakorns, it’s for a variety of reasons. I usually like to watch dramas after they’ve finish, sorry, My Love From Another Star. In The Sand Princess, a love triangle that I suspected was formed and so my enthusiasm has waned. For the rest, sometimes you just have to be in the right mood. But anyway, my goal is to finish at least 3 more lakorns before the end of the year.

What are you watching now?

Tuesday’s Teaser

Another remake of a kdrama coming our way. Voice (2019) stars veteran actors Andrew Gregson and Pancake Khemanit and airs November 7, 2019. Look at the intensity in his face and voice. This should be a powerful performance and I’m excited about this! This will be subbed by Thippy! Thank you Thippy ❤ !

Synopsis from kdrama: Popular detective Moo Jin Hyuk who is filled with guilt for his wife’s death, works with professional voice profiler Kang Kwon Joo, whose father is killed, to solve a different crime, chasing for the serial killer responsible for the deaths of their family members.
(Source: tvN Asia)

Andrew’s played a police officer multiple times before, in 12 Rasee (2003) and Sai Lub Rak Puan (2016) which was more of a comedy, so I’m glad to see him play a more meaty acting role for once.

Music Monday

This week is Andrew Gregson week. Today’s music video is from the ost of Wimarn Mekala (2016) stars Andrew and Bella Ranee. You can watch it English subbed here.

Wimarn Mekala (2016) synopsis:

Meanwhile, Paya advocated for trees to be planted in the village after his father died in a flood. The forest owner admired Paya’s passion and made him manager of the forest operation. The village needed a teacher so they arranged for a teacher named Prim to teach there. The forest owner passes away and Paya finds out that Mekkala’s father is his half brother so he writes a letter to get him to come see the forest. Mekkala is in need of money after her career fails and her endless spending so she decides to go to the forest and sell it to Paya’s worst enemy, the man who wants to chop the forest down.

Paya is confused seeing them thinking one of them is the other but they settle that immediately. However they get into an accident and Prim dies. Everyone assumes the person who died was Mekkala due to the fancy clothing and Paya decides to keep quiet and when the real Mekkala loses her memory, he tells her that she’s Prim. However, even with memory loss, she is still a brat at heart and eventually the people there cause Mekkala to fix herself and she becomes a selfless person. What will happen when Mekkala regains her memory?
