More. More. More. Another Thailand lakorn with a pra’ek with special powers, this time it seems like our hero can read minds. The Mind Game (2021) stars Bank Thiti (Bpai Hai Teung Duang Dao) and Peak Pattarasaya (Leh Ruk Bussaba (2018)) and will air June 14, 2021 on channel GMM One, so it may be english subbed.
Synopsis: When he became a suspect in a robbery case, he had to do everything he could to prove his innocence. Meet a young man with special powers and his special team to go out and pursue real criminals! (Source: MyDramaList)
The nang’ek looks older the pra’ek here in the above teaser. But there seems to be two pra’eks, the other one is played by Oab Oabnithi and he looks good in the 2nd teaser, paired with Patty Phetii I believe. This lakorn seems based on an older one called Chit Sanghan (2002). I like the poster and this might be interesting, so we’ll see if it gets English subbed.
And the boss-employee lakorns keeps on coming. This time, a remake of the popular Chinese drama, Boss & Me (2014)! Aom Sushar (Mr. Lipstick (2021)) and Push Puttichai (Happy Birthday (2018)) star in this boss falling for his employee and likewise storyline. Nothing special, I gave up on the Chinese one as nothing much ever seemed to happen, but maybe they’ve upped the angst here (at least the teaser seemed dramatic enough.) Food plays a big role in this lakorn as their relationship started through lunch boxes, so lots of food scenes too. It starts airing June 2, 2021 2 days a week on GMM 25 so it should be English subbed, if not on youtube, then it is being subbed by Viu.
Synopsis: The Story of Namkhing, a new graduate who has come to work at Fah Prachanakun Company, with Payu sitting on the podium as CEO. Namking received a hotline from the hospital to donate blood to Payu’s beloved sister. And this is where their relationship begins. Finally, how will the love story between a young CEO and a young employee end? (Source: Valentina at MyDramaList)
I just recently complained about Thailand’s lack of mystery/thriller/detective lakorns here, so naturally of course, Thailand chooses to release a new lakorn featuring a female investigator?!!! and her teaming up with other cops (and love interests maybe?). Lhong Klin Chan (2021)) stars Thanwa Suriyajak (Song Naree (2019)) and Anyarin Terathananpat (Talay Duerd (2021)) and just started airing May 26, 2021 on channel 7. Thippy should be subbing this one and I’m so ready for this and Voice 4! The teasers really look promising! I just hope Thailand keeps more lakorns of this genre coming.
Synopsis: Warnruk, a female investigator, gets transferred to her small hometown in order to investigate the homicide of Chankrapor, who was murdered and buried underneath a Chan por tree. There she meets the forensics doctor of the area, who although likes to question her intelligence, also teams up with her in order to find the murderer. Together with them is Trichai, a young and handsome lieutenant, who is always ready to help. However, the catch of this case is that the deeper you search, the thicker the fog becomes. I was bemoaning the lack of gumiho love from the recent kdrama Tale of the Nine TailedFox, but now ANOTHER gumiho tale is dropping. Wow! My Roommate Is a Gumiho (2021) is another kdrama based on the romance between a human and a gumiho. It stars Jang Ki Yong (Search: WWW) as the male gumiho and Lee Hye Ri (Reply 1988) as a female college student. This is another tvN drama and it should be English subbed. It airs May 26, 2021 two days a week, Wednesday and Thursday and should be the usual 16 episodes.
Synopsis: Shin Woo Yeo is a handsome and smart professor. He is also a 999-year-old nine-tailed fox. To become a human, he collects human energy in a bead. Soon, he is set to become a human. Meanwhile, Lee Dam is a university student. One day, her drunk friend falls asleep on top of an expensive car. She apologizes to Shin Woo Yeo, who is the car owner. While Lee Dam struggles to take her friend away, Shin Woo Yeo gives her a hand. An accident happens that changes their fate. Shin Woo Yeo’s bead falls out of his mouth and Lee Dam unintentionally swallows it. The bead can exist inside of a human for no more than 1 year and, afterwards, the bead will break inside of that person. This will cause Lee Dam to die and Shin Woo Yeo will lose his chance to become a human. Shin Woo Yeo explains to Lee Dam their predicament and suggests that they should live together until they figure out a solution. Lee Dam, who has never had a boyfriend in her life, now lives with Shin Woo Yeo. (Source: AsianWiki) ~~ Adapted from a webtoon of the same name by Na.
Hmm, another romantic comedy from Thailand! Mook Worranit (Angel Beside Me) and Luke Ishikawa (Nabi, My Stepdarling) star in Oh My Boss (2021)! This lakorn reminds me of kdrama My Secret Romance (2017) with its workplace relationship. It starts airing May 19, 2021 2 days a week on GMM so it should be English subbed on youtube.
Synopsis: When Noomnim finally lands a solid job, she decides to have a fun night out with her friend to celebrate. At the bar, she meets a handsome stranger and spends a lovely night with him. However, that stranger turns out to be her new boss! Luckily for her, the handsome CEO doesn’t seem to remember her. Or does he? When he makes Noomnim his personal assistant, she finds herself wondering whether he is interested in her or just this flirtatious with everyone. (Source: Wander_Queen at MyDramaList)
This is the lakorn I’ve been waiting for ever since I first heard of it and it finally, finally has an airing date! Praomook (2021) features some of my favorite tropes such as a forced marriage, mistaken identity and lots of angst and misunderstandings! This lakorn is getting plenty of buzz, thanks to the star power of the main couple, Bua Nalinthip and Pon Nawasch, as it’s their much anticipated reunion since 2016’s Tra Barb See Chompoo! This lakorn starts airing May 10, 2021 2 days a week, Monday and Tuesday on Channel 3. This will be on Viu and also Neko has it on her future projects list.
Synopsis: Praomook works at a nightclub to earn money and pay a debt. She doesn’t get along with Chalunthorn because he misunderstood her, thinking she’s a bad girl. One day, his parents ask Praomook to marry Chalunthorn to remove the bad luck from him. She accepts the proposal just to get back at him. He pretends to be gay to avoid her but she doesn’t believe it. They will eventually start falling for each other, but there are obstructions to their love. Treenutch, Chalunthorn’s ex wants revenge while trying to get Chalunthorn back. There’s also Maithong, the rival of Praomook’s family and Chalunthorn’s fling. (Source: MyDramaList)
Hmm, hate to love, celebrity, reality tv show, cohabitation. Okay, this sounds right up my alley. I’ve been searching for a good Korean romantic comedy, tried Oh My Ladylord, True Beauty and more but just couldn’t get past the first couple of episodes or so. So I Married an Anti-Fan (2021) is based on a webtoon and stars Choi Soo Young (Run On), and Choi Tae Joon (Missing 9). This romantic comedy airs on various channels starting on April 30, 2021, and should be English subbed on Viki, Amazon Prime and elsewhere.
Synopsis: Hoo Joon is a top star while Geun Young is a magazine reporter. For a potential news article, Geun Young decides to attend an opening ceremony for a club. There, she witnesses top star Hoo Joon’s violent behavior and she also vomits on him by accident. This leads to Geun Young losing her job. Believing that Hoo Joon was behind her firing, she decides to get him back by demonstrating in front of Hoo Joons management office. Slowly, she begins to receive media coverage on her demonstration and soon becomes famous as an anti-fan. A PD approaches Geun Young about participating in a reality TV show which revolves around the idea of a top star and their anti-fan living together. Being unemployed, she decides to accept the offer. Meanwhile, Hoo Joon is offered the same reality TV show and accepts to try to improve his image. Hoo Joon and Geun Young try to give each other a hard time on the reality show, but soon start to fall for one another. Been lovin’ me some mutant, apocalyptic survival dramas ever since watching 2020’s fantastic Sweet Home, and this kdrama seems like it might be a worthy entrant to the genre. Dark Hole (2021) is an action, mystery thriller drama starring Kim Ok Bin (Children of a Lesser God), and Lee Joon Hyuk (Stranger 2) as they fight to survive against mutants. This thriller airs on OCN starting April 30, 2021 two days a week and should be English subbed on Viki and elsewhere.

Lee Hwa Sun’s life is turned upside down when she receives a phone call from her husband’s murderer, telling her to come to “Mujishi.” However, the people in Mujishi have been transformed into monsters after breathing in a mysterious dark smoke. Lee Hwa Sun must not only fight to survive but also battle her fear in order to capture her husband’s murderer. Yoo Tae Han is a native of Mujishi and a wreck car driver. He has a carefree personality and likes to joke around, but he has a strong sense of justice. He quit being a police officer due to a scandal caused by a misunderstanding, but he is proud of his days in the force. When he meets Lee Hwa Sun in the chaos of Mujishi, he devotes his life to saving others from danger. (Sources: Naver, Soompi)
Wow! Intense. Riveting. The teaser for the new JTBC show,Undercover (2021) really hooked me. Ji Jin Hee, from 2019’s Misty, plays the undercover hubby married to Kim Hyun Joo‘s character (WATCHER). Both actors starred together inI Have a Lover (2015), so this will be a reunion for them. The thriller kdrama is directed by Song Hyun Wook, a favorite of mine (The Beauty Inside, Marriage, Not Dating). It starts airing April 23, 2021 two days a week on jTBC, and hopefully someone will English sub it.
Synopsis: “Undercover” depicts the story of Han Jung Hyun, who has been hiding his identity for a long time, and Choi Yeon Soo, a human rights lawyer who becomes the first head of the Senior Civil Servant Corruption Investigations Unit to fight for justice. A fierce battle begins to protect love and justice from the huge forces that dominate and shake the country for profit. The drama expects to dig into the reality of power and closely follow the story of human multifacetedness hidden in it and discuss what is right and wrong.
Ji Jin Hee’s character Han Jung Hyun is an agent at the Agency for National Security Planning who has been hiding his identity for a long time. He’s known for his extraordinary quickness and boldness, and during his top-secret mission, he falls in love with Choi Yeon Soo and eventually marries her. However, his secret life gets caught up in an uncontrollable whirlwind when his wife becomes nominated for a post at the Senior Civil Servant Corruption Investigations Unit.
Kim Hyun Joo’s character Choi Yeon Soo is a human rights lawyer who has lived for justice and truth. In recognition of her lifelong beliefs and abilities, she becomes nominated as the first head of the Senior Civil Servant Corruption Investigations Unit. Little does she know that her new position will force her to face a shocking truth. (Source: Soompi) ~~ A remake of the BBC One television series of the same name.
This upcoming marriage Japanese dorama calledRikokatsu (2021) gained my attention because of the older than usual cast in these marriage dramas. Nagayama Eita, who starred in another troubled marriage drama Saikou no Rikon, plays the hubby and Kitagawa Keiko (Tantei no Tantei ) is his not so adoring wife. Both actors are well known, and I’ve watched them both and look forward to watching them again in this dorama. It starts airing April 16, 2021 on TBS, and a subbing group will English sub it.
