What’s Next? Ruk Nirun Juntra

Another lakorn of Ken Theeradeth? And the posters are so pretty too. I have to at least check it out as he’s a favorite of mine. Ruk Nirun Juntra is an upcoming Channel 3 lakorn staring Ken Theeradeth (Ra Raerng Fai (2017) and Ice Preechaya (Payakorn Sorn Ruk) about an immortal man falling for an ordinary girl. The trailer looks to have a fair amount of angst, and drama, plus our hero saving the heroine, maybe it’ll be another Goblin (2016) or My Love From Another Star? We can hope, right? This is coming to Channel 3 on June 23, 2021, and Neko has this on her list, so I’m hopeful it will be English subbed.

Synopsis: The love story of an immortal man and an ordinary girl.

I’m sooo surprised, but this couple look good together! 😮This is a new pairing, and there is over a 10+ year age difference between the two, but they at least photograph well together, so I’m hopeful. I’ve been really digging the supernatural romance genre lately as well, it gives me feels, so looking forwards to watching this couple in Ruk Nirun Juntra.

What’s Next? Sell Your Haunted House (2021)

Hmm, mysteries, ghosts, romance, comedy, real estate? This kdrama has a little bit of everything, lol. Korean drama Sell Your Haunted House (2021) is a supernatural drama that teams up an exorcist with a conman. It stars Jang Na Ra (The Last Empress (2018)), and Jung Yong Hwa (probably best known for his role in 2009’s You’re Beautiful) and should have 16 episodes. The drama starts airing April 14, 2021 on Wednesday and Thursday on KBS2 and can be seen on Kocowa and Viki.

Synopsis: Ji Ah, a woman who has inherited exorcism abilities from her mother, is the owner of Daebak Realty, a company that specializes in selling haunted houses. Ji Ah looks perfect and is also brilliant, but her hot temper makes her fists fly before her words. One day, Ji Ah encounters a conman named In Beom who specializes in exorcism fraud. Late at night when Daebak Realty operates, In Beom visits Ji Ah to make an offer. He suggests that they team up to exclusively sell houses that are haunted by vengeful spirits and lingering ghosts. Can the two get along well and deal with house prices, ghosts, and their sorrowful stories? (Source: Viki)

Sell Your Haunted House (2021) looks interesting, like the teaser and posters. But the writing team of three people have limited experience apparently, although the director Park Jin Suk did work on School 2017 among other projects. Good premise, will the execution of it be flawed?

What’s Next? Revenge Lakorns and More

There are really no upcoming lakorns that I’m super excited about, but there are a couple airing that feature ‘revenge’ as the main theme, so I’ve decided to make a post about them! You’re welcome, lol.

Plerng Prissana (2021)

If you can’t play the video, here is the link to the teaser here. Of all the lakorns I list in this post, this is the one I’m most excited about. It stars Om Akkaphan, who may not be the greatest actor, but he often has great chemistry with his co-stars, who in this case would be Sammy Cowell. This Channel 7 lakorn airs March 29.

Synopsis: Top’s aunt has him execute revenge against Rinlada’s family due to what happened to his mom in the past. He plans to ruin Natee Farm, her family’s business. Barb Ayuttitham (2021)

Barb Ayuttitham (2021) airs March 22, 2021 on Channel 3 and it stars Boy Pakorn and Gina Yeena, hmm not bad. But it also stars Bomb Tanin, maybe as the villain? That… will certainly challenge Bomb’s acting skills. The trailer is all action, which you can watch here if it’s not showing below, but this MV does showcase the sweet moments between the couple.

Synopsis: Chidtawan go to the jail because was framed for what he had nothing to do with. After get free, he decide to take revenge any peoples who is the cause of this (Source: Thaidramatic_update) ~~ Remake of the U.S. series “Revenge”.

Sweet Revenge (2021)

Sweet Revenge (2021) is billed as a romance, but that synopsis suggests that it could easily veer into thriller/horror territory. I’m hoping for a thoughtful, heart touching look at love and loss of love from this Fuji Tv production. The Japanese dorama airs March 22, 2021 on Monday, should be the usual 10 episodes. You can watch the trailer here if it doesn’t show up below.

Synopsis: Mariko who seems to have no luck with romance but is actually the president of a company named Sweet Revenge which helps their female clients take revenge on men who have dumped them in cruel and harsh ways. (Source: MyDramaList)

What’s Next? Girl2K (2021)

I’ve talked about this lakorn before, but now it’s finally airing! Girl2K (2021) stars Aom Sushar (Full House) as a 2000 year old woman trying to end her curse by falling in love with 1 of her 4 suitors, who are played by Off Jumpol (Girl Next Room: Richy Rich)), Fiat Pattadon (The Gifted: Graduation)), Toy Pathompong (Girl Next Room: Motorbike Baby) and Utt Uttsada (Chun Cheu Bussaba). Girl2K (2021) is airing Febrary 17, 2021 on GMM on Wednesday and Thursday. GMM may be English subbing this, as they sub some of their series and it has an English subbed trailer, so fingers crossed!

If you can’t play the video, here is the link to the teaser here. And you can find a song from the ost here. The trailer is a mix of comedy and drama, with a hint of tragedy here and there that it’s hard to tell what exactly the end result will be, whether it will be more comic then dramatic or vice versa and blend them successfully, but irregardless, I’m glad we’re getting more unique storylines and plots from Thailand.

Synopsis: Momay is two thousand years old. For centuries she has never aged, never gotten sick, never died. Having tried hundreds of methods to kill herself over and over again and always failing, Momay finally sees a ray of light at the end of the tunnel when her friend Krateng, a fortuneteller, tells her that she will be able to age and pass on if she finds the love of her life within the year. The problem is, there are four candidates. Thawin—her hardworking and generous boss, Khun Prom—their company’s biggest client, Kampun—a sweet young man—and Moo Tod—the dashing new guy. Four candidates and one year to find the love of her life. But who’s the right one? (Source: Soju at MyDramalist)

What’s Next? Duang Jai Nai Montra (2021)

Another reincarnation story, Duang Jai Nai Montra (2021) stars Tono Pakin (Monkey Twins) and Nychaa Nuttanicha (Plerng Prang Tian)) in a tale of an immortal who finds the woman he loved once upon a time. The leads were a couple together in The Cupids Series: Kammathep Sorn Kol (2017), so hopefully they have good chemistry. Airing January 27, 2021 on Channel 3 on Wednesday and Thursday. Muse will be English subbing this.

If you can’t play the video, here is the link to the teaser here. And you can find a mv here.

Tuesday’s Teaser: Sweet Home (2020)

There really seems to be only one drama debuting this week with an interesting poster and so I’m introducing you to kdrama Sweet Home (2020). It stars Song Kang (Love Alarm (2019)) as a loner who moves into a mysterious apartment building where a monster (gulp) lives. This horror drama also stars some other well known actors such as Lee Jin Wook, Lee Shi Young, Lee Do Hyun, Go Min Shi, and Park Gyu Young. I wonder if this will have sequels because it only has 10 episodes. This will be English subbed on Netflix USA and airs on December 18, 2020.

Synopsis: Hyun Soo, a loner high school student who lost his entire family in a terrible accident, moves to an old apartment complex called Green Home. Driven by despair, he gradually realizes the secret of the Green home. The fact that a monster trying to drive humanity out of various forms of distorted human desires surrounds the Green home, including himself, and that the residents of Green Homes are trapped in them. Tuesday’s Teaser: The School Nurse Files (2020)

Well, this drama looks to be full of quirky goodness! Fantasy drama The School Nurse Files (2020) is all about strange creatures and mysterious events. It stars Jung Yoo Mi (Live (2018)) and Nam Joo Hyuk (The Light in Your Eyes (2019)) as teachers who work together to protect a school. This is a Netflix Korean drama and airs September 25, 2020 and it should be English subbed.

Hong In Pyo has a special energy. In order to protect the students, An Eun Young and Hong In Pyo work together to eradicate these jellies. (Source: AsianWiki)

The director is Lee Kyung Mi (The Truth Beneath) who is paired with a newbie screenwriter Chung Se Rang who is an award winning writer who wrote the book this is based on. This drama only airs once a week on Friday and has only six episodes, so it looks like a good candidate for a marathon watch after it concludes.

What’s Next? Supernatural edition

This week, I wanted to delve more into the supernatural/paranormal world of upcoming lakorns, and also Korean and Chinese dramas as well. But no ghost dramas here, since they’re so frequent in lakornland. Please note these are dramas that caught my eye as the most interesting, and it’s not a complete list by any accounting.

  • Angel Beside Me (2020) just started airing Jan 18 and it’s being subbed on GMMTV’s yt channel. It stars Jane Ramida Jiranorraphat (The Gifted) and JJ Kritsanapoom (In Family we Trust) in a story about a girl who is helped by the angel besides her.
  • Miti Thi Sarm (2020) has two big names attached to it, Nadech Kugimiya and Taew Natapohn, so it’s hard to tell when this will come out, but I mention it here because it has an angel in it too like Angel Beside Me. Synopsis: Chompoonute just graduated from abroad. She reached the turning point of her life when she met Naruenartbodin, a mysterious gentleman. She starts to practice meditation to find out where he’s from, and later she discovers that he’s an angel from the sky. (Source: MyDramaList
  • Prai Sungkeet (2020) With Bank Artit (Panthakan Rak) and Pimprapa Tangprabhaporn (Look Mai Laai Sonthaya) Synopsis: “Plaai Krung” is a cursed song that everyone who sings this song, will die from bleeding. Maeyakorn, the fuddle player, need to help Yot, the heir of this song composer, to find out the truth when her friend and teacher die after singing this song. They will ruin this song but someone steal the lyrics. (Source: thaidramatic_update)
  • Girl2K (2020) stars Aom Sushar (Full House) as a 2000 year old nang’ek who must find the love of her life in a year to age normally and die, but the trouble is she has 4 candidates to choose from!
  • Maya Sanaeha (2020) Ice Preechaya (Rak Kan Panlawan) and Ken Phupoom (Raeng Ngao 2) This might be considered a ghost tale, but I thought the second chance angle was a little unique. Synopsis: Chakree broke up with Monsicha, his long-term girlfriend because he slept with Sawarot, his servant, while he was drunk but he doesn’t have feelings for her. After that, he got into a car accident due to drunk driving and became a roaming spirit. He can see everyone around him, but no one can see him. When Chakree finds out about someone’s secret, he attempts to stop something bad from happening. He also tries to keep Monsicha from moving on to another guy. How is he going to do that since he’s now a spirit who might not reborn again?

The only way to break the curse is to get a second kiss from the same person as a dog. After years of being careful and avoiding kissing anyone, Hana accidentally kisses the rude teacher, Mr. Jin, who happens to hate dogs. • The Story of Gumiho (2020) has Lee Dong Wook (Goblin) as the male gumiho and Jo Bo Ah as a tv producer who looks out for strange stories. • Welcome Home (2020) Airing March 25 and starring L as Hong Jo and Shin Ye Seon sounds like it might be a cute, if weird romantic comedy.🤔 Synopsis: “Hong Jo is a cat who has mastered the art of transformation into human form.
