I was bemoaning the lack of gumiho love from the recent kdrama Tale of the Nine TailedFox, but now ANOTHER gumiho tale is dropping. Wow! My Roommate Is a Gumiho (2021) is another kdrama based on the romance between a human and a gumiho. It stars Jang Ki Yong (Search: WWW) as the male gumiho and Lee Hye Ri (Reply 1988) as a female college student. This is another tvN drama and it should be English subbed. It airs May 26, 2021 two days a week, Wednesday and Thursday and should be the usual 16 episodes.
Synopsis: Shin Woo Yeo is a handsome and smart professor. He is also a 999-year-old nine-tailed fox. To become a human, he collects human energy in a bead. Soon, he is set to become a human. Meanwhile, Lee Dam is a university student. One day, her drunk friend falls asleep on top of an expensive car. She apologizes to Shin Woo Yeo, who is the car owner. While Lee Dam struggles to take her friend away, Shin Woo Yeo gives her a hand. An accident happens that changes their fate. Shin Woo Yeo’s bead falls out of his mouth and Lee Dam unintentionally swallows it. The bead can exist inside of a human for no more than 1 year and, afterwards, the bead will break inside of that person. This will cause Lee Dam to die and Shin Woo Yeo will lose his chance to become a human. Shin Woo Yeo explains to Lee Dam their predicament and suggests that they should live together until they figure out a solution. Lee Dam, who has never had a boyfriend in her life, now lives with Shin Woo Yeo. (Source: AsianWiki) ~~ Adapted from a webtoon of the same name by Na.
There was a Korean adaptation (Clean With Passion For Now (2018)) of the same webtoon this drama is based on, so I wonder if it’ll follow the kdrama or webtoon? The drama should air May 9, 2021, and is a Mango Tv production, should have 24 episodes, and English subbed episodes will be on Netflix USA.

Hmm, hate to love, celebrity, reality tv show, cohabitation. Okay, this sounds right up my alley. I’ve been searching for a good Korean romantic comedy, tried Oh My Ladylord, True Beauty and more but just couldn’t get past the first couple of episodes or so. So I Married an Anti-Fan (2021) is based on a webtoon and stars Choi Soo Young (Run On), and Choi Tae Joon (Missing 9). This romantic comedy airs on various channels starting on April 30, 2021, and should be English subbed on Viki, Amazon Prime and elsewhere.
Synopsis: Hoo Joon is a top star while Geun Young is a magazine reporter. For a potential news article, Geun Young decides to attend an opening ceremony for a club. There, she witnesses top star Hoo Joon’s violent behavior and she also vomits on him by accident. This leads to Geun Young losing her job. Believing that Hoo Joon was behind her firing, she decides to get him back by demonstrating in front of Hoo Joons management office. Slowly, she begins to receive media coverage on her demonstration and soon becomes famous as an anti-fan. A PD approaches Geun Young about participating in a reality TV show which revolves around the idea of a top star and their anti-fan living together. Being unemployed, she decides to accept the offer. Meanwhile, Hoo Joon is offered the same reality TV show and accepts to try to improve his image. Hoo Joon and Geun Young try to give each other a hard time on the reality show, but soon start to fall for one another. I’m definitely in the mood for something light hearted and fun and this Japanese dorama about a tomboy dressing up as a cute cafe maid may just fit the bill. Himitsu no Ai-chan (2021) is based on a manga and stars Taira Yuna (I’m Underage But I’m Not a Child (2017) – cute film by the way) and Sato Kanta (Sweet Tai Chi). This romantic comedy already started airing on Fuji Tv on February 20, 2021 once a week, 10 episodes as usual. Hopefully, some fan will English sub this dorama.

She is very popular among the girls and can even outplay the boys’ team, with the exception of one person—Amano Reo. His skills on the court are only matched by one thing: his popularity. Envious, Ai proclaims him as her rival, and every day after practice, they compare the number of love letters they each received, which always results in her loss. In need of workers, Ai’s brother employs her at his maid cafe called “Spica.” Since she does not appear girlish enough, her appearance is changed with a wig and some makeup.
One day, Reo visits the cafe with other members of the boys’ team. Worried that they will see through her disguise, she tries to hide, inadvertently spilling drinks on Reo. As she is cleaning up after her mistake, suddenly, Reo asks to go on a date with her. After thinking about it, she eagerly comes up with a plan for revenge—she will make him fall in love with her and then dump him. The trailer is a mix of comedy and drama, with a hint of tragedy here and there that it’s hard to tell what exactly the end result will be, whether it will be more comic then dramatic or vice versa and blend them successfully, but irregardless, I’m glad we’re getting more unique storylines and plots from Thailand.
