I was bemoaning the lack of gumiho love from the recent kdrama Tale of the Nine TailedFox, but now ANOTHER gumiho tale is dropping. Wow! My Roommate Is a Gumiho (2021) is another kdrama based on the romance between a human and a gumiho. It stars Jang Ki Yong (Search: WWW) as the male gumiho and Lee Hye Ri (Reply 1988) as a female college student. This is another tvN drama and it should be English subbed. It airs May 26, 2021 two days a week, Wednesday and Thursday and should be the usual 16 episodes.
Synopsis: Shin Woo Yeo is a handsome and smart professor. He is also a 999-year-old nine-tailed fox. To become a human, he collects human energy in a bead. Soon, he is set to become a human. Meanwhile, Lee Dam is a university student. One day, her drunk friend falls asleep on top of an expensive car. She apologizes to Shin Woo Yeo, who is the car owner. While Lee Dam struggles to take her friend away, Shin Woo Yeo gives her a hand. An accident happens that changes their fate. Shin Woo Yeo’s bead falls out of his mouth and Lee Dam unintentionally swallows it. The bead can exist inside of a human for no more than 1 year and, afterwards, the bead will break inside of that person. This will cause Lee Dam to die and Shin Woo Yeo will lose his chance to become a human. Shin Woo Yeo explains to Lee Dam their predicament and suggests that they should live together until they figure out a solution. Lee Dam, who has never had a boyfriend in her life, now lives with Shin Woo Yeo. (Source: AsianWiki) ~~ Adapted from a webtoon of the same name by Na.

The director is Lee Kyung Mi (The Truth Beneath) who is paired with a newbie screenwriter Chung Se Rang who is an award winning writer who wrote the book this is based on. This drama only airs once a week on Friday and has only six episodes, so it looks like a good candidate for a marathon watch after it concludes.
This week, I wanted to delve more into the supernatural/paranormal world of upcoming lakorns, and also Korean and Chinese dramas as well. But no ghost dramas here, since they’re so frequent in lakornland. Please note these are dramas that caught my eye as the most interesting, and it’s not a complete list by any accounting.
Miti Thi Sarm (2020) has two big names attached to it, Nadech Kugimiya and Taew Natapohn, so it’s hard to tell when this will come out, but I mention it here because it has an angel in it too like Angel Beside Me. Maya Sanaeha (2020) Ice Preechaya (Rak Kan Panlawan) and Ken Phupoom (Raeng Ngao 2) This might be considered a ghost tale, but I thought the second chance angle was a little unique. After that, he got into a car accident due to drunk driving and became a roaming spirit. He can see everyone around him, but no one can see him.
