There’s a rather intriguing upcoming mystery Japanese dorama coming soon called Borderless (2021). I really love the mood and lighting in the teaser and the whole aesthetics of the dorama and even the cover poster. With 4 separate stories that are somehow connected to each other, this is very much a girl centered drama, look at this main cast list: Morita Hikaru, Hayakawa Seira, Watanabe Risa, Hamagishi Hiyori, Endo Sakura, and Saito Kyoko. The dorama starts airing March 7, 2021 on dTV, and hopefully someone will English sub it.

Really loving the pics from yet another Chinese drama about a married couple, this time it’s Rebirth For You (2021). You might have seen female lead Ju Jing Yi in The Blooms at Ruyi Pavilion and male lead Joseph Zeng from The Journey Across the Night (2020). This is a new pairing for the couple, but both the director Zhi Lei and the screenwriter Ju Fang Fang have worked with Ju Jing Yi before. I already love the stills from this drama so looking forwards to it. This is a Tencent production that has no air date yet, but hopefully will be English subbed.

A light hearted historical Chinese drama, A Love So Romantic might just be the romantic comedy I’ve been looking for this year. Yang Zhi Wen‘s first starring role pairs her with Ye Sheng Jia (Endless Eighteen). This looks to be another bubbly young miss in love with a cold hearted man, but that can be fun if it’s done right. Another Tencent production that is already English subbed on youtube, A Love So Romantic will also be on viki.

Dramas about married couples are my favorite genre, so this Chinese drama Monarch Industry (2021) is on my list to watch. With a well known cast, it stars the famous movie actress Zhang Zi Yi (Crouching Tiger, Hidden Dragon ), Zhou Yi Wei (New Face (2020)) and Tony Yang (Lady & Liar). There should be lots of palace intrigue, power struggle and more in Monarch Industry (2021) which is supposed to have 80 episodes. 80 episodes is ginormous, but I think under the right direction, writers and production, this could be done (plus episodes are only 45 mins long). This is a Youku drama has a lot of people interested so I’m sure it’ll be English subbed. The drama will start airing on January 9, 2021

A remake of a popular 2017 Chinese drama, A Love So Beautiful (2020) is the Korean version of the youth romantic drama. Another Chinese drama that I’m looking forward to is Invisible Life (2020), which stars famous Hong Kong actor Hawick Lau (Sealed with a Kiss, Lady & Liar ) and Chen Du Ling (Another Me (2019)). Invisible Life (2020)follows a relationship between a boss and his employee from the beginning until marriage and beyond. The dramas starts on December 9, and should have 40 episodes. This Hunan TV drama should be up on youtube and viki so it should be English subbed.

I’ve a number of dramas I’m interested in that I haven’t talked about because my time is limited, but I wanted to promote these dramas, not sure if they’re good or not, one hasn’t come out yet, but I wanted to at least talk about them a little bit. Except for the 1st drama, these dramas are light on romance, so read on if you’re still interested.

I find the plot appealing and I’ve been watching for a Japanese dorama to watch. This started airing October 27, 2020 and only airs 1 day a week. Arimura Kasumi stars as the female lead who meets and has a romance with Yoshioka-san, played by Hayashi Kento. This is being played on Fuji TV and hopefully some kind soul will English sub this.

Okay, insects creep me out a little, but still or because of that, the title of this Chinese drama caught my eye, Insect Detective (2020). Insect Detective (2020) started airing November 3 and airs three days a week on Youku so there is a possibly that it might be English subbed. The trailer is intriguing enough so I might have to overcome my natural aversion to insects and give it a try.

Healer of Children (2020) caught my attention as well because of the title and the poster. It stars Chen Xiao (Above the Clouds) and Wang Zi Wen (When a Snail Falls in Love) and this is touted as more of a slice of life drama, so I wonder if romance will play a part. This starts airing on November 30, 2020.
