In Talay Prae (2020), we have lots of drama, a playboy married to a nice girl, but nice girls grow up and change. Hehe. Sounds good to me. The lakorn airs January 11, but it doesn’t look like it’s on anyone’s future projects list. I think someone will sub it, fingers crossed. 😰
Looks like we have a newbie for the nang’ek, Fah Yongwaree, but New Wongsakorn and Katreeya English are definitely no newbies as the other main stars. This is a remake of a 1997 lakorn of the same name.

For the last Music Monday of 2019, I wanted to look back again at the major musical lakorns that aired this year. And I had several posts this year that went into more details about the music in lakorns, see this post and this one here. Next year, I hope to look for more diversity of musical genres and feature them here.
I already discussed the music of Weir Sukollawat‘s lakorn, Poo Bao Indy Yayee Inter (2019) in some depth here, but in Yodrak Nakrob (2019), Weir plays an Isan singer and you can watch him perform in the clip!
Siang Euan Sateuan Dao (2019) hasn’t been subbed, but it was another lakorn about a girl hoping to be a singer. I thought the song above was quite lovely and calming at the same time.
Another lakorn that aired this year is Sao Noi Roy Lan View (2019), about a young girl who wants to be a singer and becomes an Internet idol.
I thought this mv from Pleng Ruk Pleng Bpeun (2019) was interesting. There’s a rap in it, and look at the colorful outfits everyone is wearing.
Other musical lakorns:Dok Kun Sieng Kaen (2019) – Toomtam Yuthana was in it, but little info otherwise. MV
Luk Krung (2019) About a ballad singer, it surely has singing in it. You can see a mv here.
Another day, another remake in lakornland. This time, it’s a revenge lakorn called Peek Hong (2019). If you want to know about more lakorn remakes, see here for foreign remakes or here for Thailand’s remakes of their own lakorns.
Linin, a beautiful socialite who used her beauty and charisma to seduce men into liking her but never took any relationships with those men seriously. She enjoyed playing with their heads and making them fall head over heels in love with her. One of the men that fell for Linin was the fiance of Tinnapat’s sister. His sister’s world was shattered when her fiance broke off the engagement and left her for Linin. She committed suicide as a result. Tinnapat was devastated by his sister’s death and making his life worse, upon hearing the news his mother went into shock and suffered a massive stroke. She became paralyzed and was bedridden. Tinnapat then hunted for Linin and plotted his plan to enter her life and seek his revenge. Linin fell hard for Tinnapat because he was different from all the men she has come across. But she doesn’t know that his feeling for her wasn’t true. His only intention was to hurt her as much as he can. He couldn’t forget his sister’s death and will never forgive the woman who caused her death.
Peek Hong (2019) stars BigM Krittarit and Preaw Tussaneeya. This couple also starred together in Pleng Ruk Pleng Bpeun (2019), but I don’t that was English subbed. Here’s hoping someone will sub this.
Here’s part 2 of 2019 drama lakorns. I think I found some possible hidden treasures that haven’t been English subbed. By the way, obviously I chose to cover the lakorns that are interesting to me, and not every 2019 drama lakorn is covered. Part 1 on English subbed drama lakorns is here.
NOT ENGLISH SUBBED
Raeng Tian (2019) – Tiansee was dumped by her gold-digging boyfriend because she’s middle class while his new girlfriend Ratikorn is rich. Disappointed and hurt, she turns into a bitter person who hates men. One day she gets emotional while driving and gets into a car accident with Tiwa, who happens to be Ratikorn’s brother. She doesn’t know how he’s connected to her ex while he’s aware of who she is from the beginning. While Tiansee goes through rehab to walk again, Tiwa is always there to help taking care of her. They develop a bickering relationship and eventually fall in love with each other. But things become more complicated when the truth comes out. (Source: MyDramaList)
Reason it’s interesting? Just one question. Why has no one subbed this yet? In the trailer, it looks like she marries him to get back at her ex. Oh, the angst!
Gon Luang Tuang Nee Rak (2019) Sareeya is devastated by the death of her father which left her as the sole breadwinner of her family. Inexperienced, Sareeya tries to run her family business with the help of her long term boyfriend Ronnachai not to great success. Ronnachai, one day helps Preeyamon from purse snatching and Preeyamon is impressed by Ronnachai. Ronnachai, encouraged by his mother courts Preeyamon who belongs to a rich family. Sareeya in the meantime meets Atsawin who tuns out to be Preeyamon’s brother.
Reason it’s interesting? I enjoyed the mv above, the couple looks sweet and it doesn’t seem over the top as some lakorns.
Korn Aroon Ja Roong (2019) – Aroonchai gets raped by her own father and the drama follows how this affects both her future relationships with men and her mother. (Source: MyDramaList)
Reason it’s interesting? This looks like a serious look at the consequences of rape and there are few lakorns out there that treat rape with the gravity it deserves AND in a non romantic way.
Glarb Pai Soo Wun Fun (2019)– Pimchat is a middle-aged woman who, thanks to a magic ring, goes back to being an 18 year-old girl. Now she has a second chance to fulfill her dreams and find happiness. (Source: MyDramaList)
Reason it’s interesting? There are a lot of things and ways this story could go, witness all the movies and dramas about traveling back to your younger self. Things usually don’t go the way you imagine they will and the trailer certainly shows that. I’m not familiar with the nang’ek Piyathida Mittiraroch nor her co-star playing the younger Pimchat (Sirinart Sugandharat), but the male leads are Smart Krissada and Oil Thana should spark recognition.
So far, we’ve looked at action and comedy genres of 2019, what interesting lakorns were subbed, and what weren’t. I didn’t cover all, but tried to cover what I felt was the most important or overlooked unsubbed lakorns of 2019. Now we will look at the very wide category of drama lakorns, Part 1 covers those that are English subbed. Part 2 is about non subbed lakorns.
Drama can be a very broad category covering everything from melodramas, more even keeled, but non comic lakorns, to slap and kiss lakorns. I decided to narrow this to lakorns that don’t fall into other categories, so if it’s a horror lakorn or historical lakorn, I’m not covering it here. I did decide to include slap and kiss lakorns because I’m not making a separate post about them and there weren’t that many in 2019.
Hua Jai Sila – Tor is a love child of a mistress and a wealthy hi-so man. After his mother dies from neglect, Tor is forced to live with his father’s family. Abused by his stepmother and stepbrother, he turns to the girl-next-door, Mingta, who also suffers neglect at the hands of her so called mother and sister. One night, while being chased by his stepmother, Tor jumps into a river and is presumed dead, though he survives. He is taken under the wing of another prostitute who knew his mother and takes on a new life under the alias, Sila. Years later, he returns as a notorious, rich pimp, with plans to avenge his mother and to get revenge for the torture and pain brought to him by his stepmother and stepbrother. Sila’s main goal is to hurt the people that hurt him as a child, but he never expected to see the only friend he ever had as a child, Mingta. As soon as they see each other, she realizes that he looks familiar to her. She notices a ring he wears around his neck, and immediately comes to the conclusion that he’s Tor, her childhood best friend that supposedly died. But he denies it because of his revenge plan. (Source: MyDramaList)
Reason it’s interesting? This had to be one of the most talked about hits of 2019 for international audiences. And for the male lead Tor Thanapob, this was definitely a game changing role for him. This is a remake of a 2017 lakorn and is a slap and kiss. Subbed by Muse.
Plerng Prang Tian (2019) – A fantasy drama of a love triangle that happened in the past life. Kalin, a famous model, is in a scandalous controversy because she is with a married man but she doesn’t care about it, since he told her that he is going to get a divorce. One day, she found an ancient golden hairpin that made her dream of Tiankhum, a woman who has the same face as her. She saw all of Tiankhum’s life and felt angry for her. The hairpin shows its power by bringing her soul to Tiankhum’s body. Tiankhum, a naive girl, was adopted by Nhankhum, the hunter of the vassal prince. One day, she was attacked by a tiger and Taywarit, son of the vassal prince, said that he would help her. That made Tiankhum feel grateful and respectful towards him. Finally, she became his mistress. Wongduen, who is Taywarit’s wife, is so angry. Tiankhum tragically dies and vows to be strong and fierce in the next life, so she can get revenge on everyone who treated her badly. After history repeats itself, Kalin decides to go back to the past and change it.
Reason it’s interesting? This could be considered a fantasy lakorn, a historical (parts of it) lakorn or even a time travel lakorn. All of that makes this more interesting. Also, the fact that the main lead, the nang’ek is engaged in questionable behavior makes her stand out from the vast majority of nang’eks. Subbed by Muse.
Nee Ruk Nai Krong Fai (2019) – On her seventh birthday, Chalita’s entire family was killed. Kawin/Kevin, was given the option to slay three people in order to protect one. His guilt drove him to distance himself from her. In her youth, Chalita is adopted by a mysterious stranger who is known as, “Nai Noi (Young Boss):” He turns her life around and is her means of support. Kawin moves next door to Chalita and their lives become entangled. Feelings blossom, and happiness is reintroduced to Chalita’s life, but Kawin risks losing her, if his secret were to ever be revealed. If Chalita ever recalled the past, he will lose everything. (Source: asianfuse.net)
Reason it’s interesting? Just read the synopsis. Trailer. Subbed by Muse.
Bai Mai Tee Plid Plew (2019) Nira is like a young leaf, which is always there beside the flowers but will never be one of them. Her name, Nira, derives from Niranam which means the anonymous one. The story of a boy who is a little girl at heart, he is shattered from not being accepted by anyone but his mother who wholeheartedly loves him. His father is not a very good man, as he loathes him and mistreats his mother. Nira wants his father to be like his uncle-in-law Chatchavee, the only one aside from his mother who is a warm man and cares for him and understands him. Until the forbidden love occurs, Chatchavee happens to notice and cannot answer back this aberrant love, he denies Nira. Nira, deeply crushed and traumatised by this rejection, decides with his mother’s support to do something that changes the rest of his life. He undergoes a sex reassignment surgery which completely transforms him into a gorgeous woman. Unfortunately, her mother dies during the operation. Devastated, she runs away from the hospital. The one who finds her and helps her is doctor Benjang, who takes her home. She starts living as his sister. One day, Nira coincidentally meets Chatchavee. Due to her beauty, he starts to fall for her and also Nira’s father. None of them recognize her. The tragedy love begins to be more and more complicated when Nira’s aunt, who always looks down on Nira’s love and is envious of her, discovers the truth and tries to hinder Nira in every way. How will this story end?
Reason it’s interesting? With that plot, this is the very epitome of drama, melodrama, whatever you want to call it. Push Puttichai and Baifern Pimchanok are capable actors as well. Trailer. Subbed by Muse.
A girl is found murdered and buried in a very strange way. This alerts Maha Krating, a young astrologist who specializes in auspicious timing and fortune telling. He realizes that the ancient rite is performed in order to change the city’s fate to benefit someone wanting to take over. Whoever does this have to sacrifice four women represent Earth, Water, Air and Fire elements who must also have exact same birth date, month and year. Maha Krating uses all his knowledge to prevent the next murder from happening but he is always one step behind the killer until there is only one woman left. He can’t make the same mistake again because this means the life of Run, the woman he loves. (Source: VCan)
Reason it’s interesting? This is a combination of genres, action, mystery, murder and so on. For that in itself, it’s noteworthy. There are few lakorns that feature serial killers, so I’m intrigued about how big a part this plays in the lakorn. Subbed by Muse.
Currently Being Subbed

Fah Fak Ruk (2019) caught my eye because it features a pregnancy, and the teaser is pure comedy! Toey Pongsakorn and Mint Chalida really seem to match as a couple. This lakorn should be out on January 15, 2020 and Thippy has it on her subbing list.
Synopsis: The story is about Tongrak, a girl who struggles in life agreed to be a surrogate mom for Praefah, her biological sister who has health issues. Praefah is in love with Natee, an ordinary musician who turns out to be the heir of the Asavakietikul family where they have enemies all around. Because of this, Praefah and Natee ends up getting murdered, leaving Tongrak a lonely pregnant woman with no job. Tongrak wants to tell the Asavakietikul family about their possible heir or heiress in her tummy but Kimhan, a toy designer, stopped her from doing so because he thinks the reason Praefah and Natee were killed is because the murderer wants to kill the heir. So Tongrak ends up being under the care of Kimhan. The two becomes close and develops feelings for each other unintentionally.
I like the synopsis and hope there’s a mystery involved here as well as comedy. 😛 Excited!
This week continues the drama! Melodramas, soap operas, tearjerkers, dramas. Tears, fears, angst galore, breakups, screaming people. I’ll be showcasing several mvs from two 2019 lakorns. Enjoy!

Mew Nittha and Mark Prin star in Ok Keub Hak Ab Ruk Khun Samee. The lakorn is based off a book, called My Husband in Law.
Synopsis: The main leads were forced to get married to protect the male lead from another girl’s husband who has power. He doesn’t like the female lead because he grew up with her. She is the daughter of his mom’s friend who died when she was young so his mother adopted her. He teased and messed with her since she was young but she never fought back. He wanted someone perfect and she was not it. He later found out that she’s been secretly in love with him.
Hmm, Romeo and Juliet like feuding families, pregnancy, secret twins? Uh, sounds melodramatic, but promising? So Wayree (or Soh Wari) is probably going to be a 2020 release, but that’s coming up soon, so look for it.
Two hotel moguls, once family friends since the grandparents generation now sworn enemies, are fighting over who will reign supreme.
Prinoot never thought that he would be part of the hatred. Although his father is the son in law of Sirimontra, his mom was only a mistress who was abandoned in America. Growing up he never knew what having a father was like.
Pramida is the only heiress to the famous Emporium real estate mogul. She was pulled into this warring game after being drugged and sent to Prinoot as ransom. 4 years later, she came back with a set of twins but she told everyone that those were her siblings.
Prinoot and Pramida meet again but standing on opposite sides of the line as sworn enemies. Although they have the twins, not as chains of love but chains of enemies that tied them together unwillingly.
In the mood for some drama? Well, Nee Sanaeha (2019) starring Ice Paris and Noona Nuengtida looks like it would deliver. The teaser is chock full of drama. The lakorn airs December 16 and neko’s got this on her future projects list.
I’m not familiar with Ice Paris, who’s only been in lakorns since 2017, but Noona Nuengtida should be well known for her roles in 2013’s Koo Gum and Jad Ruk Viva Luang.
Synopsis: None available at the moment. This looks like a lot of fighting between family members of a sick and dying man. (Source: MyDramaList)
